National Awards 2010

Our 2007 Ghillie Shiraz has recently been awarded a Gold Medal at the 2010 Dan Murphy's National Wine Show of Australia in Class 29 for 2008 and Older Shiraz. To even enter this show wines have to have already been awarded Gold or Silver medals from another state or top regional show, so the competition is very tough. The Ghillie was only half a point away from the trophy!

The 2008 Hunter Valley Semillon was also selected as one of the 5 finalists in the 2010 Winestate Wine of the Year Show for the Semillon category. We were in great company with the other four finalists all coming from Hunter companies including Tyrrells, Pokolbin Estate and Allandale. We have only a few bottles left so order now - still just $25 a bottle.

A New Winemaker for Vintage 2011

We would like to welcome Scott Stephens to Capercaillie who will be making our wine this year. Scott has previously been winemaker at McWilliams Mt Pleasant, De Bortoli and Tower Estate, but more recently he has started his own winemaking business. He has nearly 20 years experience in the Hunter Valley and has also completed vintages in France, California and Coonawarra. Although the face behind the name may change, we definately aim to keep the styles of your favourite Capercaillie wines.
