The Gallery
On entering the winery cellar door, the visitor is welcomed by the light airy space
filled with fine glass, ceramics, silks, jewellery, sculpture and timbers to complement
the original paintings adorning the walls. Our Craftmark accredited gallery taps into a
rich vein of local artists supplemented with ever-changing works of fine art and craft
from around Australia.
The gallery aims to suit all tastes and budgets and is an essential stop for any visitor
to the Hunter Valley. Enjoy a taste of our award winning wine while you browse
around the gallery.

Art
The inspiration to include art with wine came from the winemaker's wife Trish. Trish
only took up painting as a more serious interest in 1990, starting with watercolours and
progressing to mixed media and acrylics for their flexibility. Her work is of course on
permanent display in the gallery, which includes well known names like Norman Lindsay,
Rod Spicer, Dorothee Heibel, Margaret Dimoff, Peter White and Peter McQueeney to
name a few.

Feature Artist
 |
| Ann Lemon
Ann has had a passion for art throughout her life but, following a long career in the police force and raising a family, she has only in the last 10 years become a full-time Artist, training at Hunter Street TAFE and Newcastle University. Textures of the landscape fascinate Ann as much as the colours, shapes and tones. Her recent works have used extremely thick paint with mediums like pumice stone and wax added to replicate the highly tactile surfaces of the environment being studied. Ann has exhibited and won awards in numerous exhibitions in Sydney, Newcastle and the Hunter Valley, and is represented in many private collections in Australia and overseas.

Craft
Other three dimensional art and craft works include: glass by Setsuko Ogishi and
Julio Santos; fibre art by Virginia Kaiser; textiles by Maureen Locke-Maclean;
jewellery by Angie Swannell; fine Tasmanian woodwork and a range of local
ceramics. This is not an exhaustive list as the gallery includes a wide range of
unique and original pieces.

Feature Craft
 |
| Setsuko Ogishi Glass
Born in Japan, Setsuko studied oil painting and sculpture before graduating with a Batchelor of Fine Arts. She arrived in Australia in 1981 and trained in the glass workshop at the Jam Factory in Adelaide, before opening her own glass studio in the Hunter Valley in 1987. Traditional Japanese art and customs are important influences, but she likes Australia's futuristic mood and freedom. One of the few women glass blowers in the country she has the advantage that her work reflects a special delicacy, softness and simplicity.
